We accept 8” minimum hair length (from top to bottom). However, longer lengths are appreciated. Hair needs to be clean, and thoroughly dry. Please bundle hair in a ponytail or braid before having it cut. After securing the hair, have it cut ABOVE the rubber band to keep the strands bundled together. Once it has been cut wrap lightly in a piece of dry clean newspaper (helping to absorb moisture) and please place in a seal-able plastic bag. See this video demonstration.

  •    Layered hair is acceptable and may be divided into multiple ponytails and then cut.
  •    Hair may not be colored, chemically treated (if unsure, ask your stylist).
  •    Not more than 10% gray.
  •    You may pull curly hair straight to measure, but the minimum increases to 10”.
  •    Hair Heroes accepts hair from all ages and all countries.
  •    Hair that was cut years ago or swept off the floor is not usable.
  •    Hair Heroes “does” accept new human hair wigs and new hair extensions.

Through caring individuals like you, we can continue to provide FREE Hair Replacement Systems to children in need who would otherwise not be able to afford them. It costs  anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000 to complete one Hair Replacement System. To help offset the costs of producing and processing these wigs, a money donation is also appreciated with your ponytail hair donation, or you may want to consider collecting pledges from family and friends when you donate hair to cancer patients.
